I bought this because I drive a lot for business. Well everything looked great BUT the phone will not charge with a case, and yes the same case I bought from sprint, (the fit is too tight)and yes I removed the docking insert. So me and the Sprint people took the phone out of the case and it would still not work right, after a few mins it looked like it was the cord, so we tried a new one from another unopened box, same result, looks like the cord, because the phone will charge with the original cord that came with the phone, I brought that one with me to the Sprint store. So I am not sure whats going on, even the Sprint techs couldnt figure it out.

First, I have been unable to find a case that works while in the dock. This isn't too big of a concern as the photon is pretty durable/has gorilla glass, but is something to consider.

However this dock is excellent. As soon as you plug your phone into it goes into "car mode." In car mode the interface changes so that it displays 6 big buttons. I have mine set up for GPS, Pandora, and quick dialing my wife and parents and voice search. This handsfree way of interacting with the phone is much much safer than messing around with it undocked. It's probably a bit less useful if you have a new car with SYNC or other fancy features, but for those of us with an older model (I drive a 2000 passat that is still going strong) this thing is awesome.

I have it set up so the sound is going through my cars speakers (took some doing, but works) and the sound quality is excellent (they recently patched the phone to improve this performance). The mic is also loud enough that nobody has complained about connection/sound issues on the other end.

btw the sprint case/belt clip will work with it. But you have to dremil the usb/hdmi opening to make it fit. Also add a small something to the sides of the cradle to balance the phone. So the big problem of no case fitting is now gone with a few minutes of modification to the case.
Since I was able to find a solution about the case I will give it a five star
buy both from sprint and save 25%
